Cards
To Aman who said Arsenal add nothing to the league and just make up the numbers, I guess it’s nothing compared to the circus at United. To each his own but I suppose it’s a reflection of the times when we’ve nothing better to talk about than slag off each other? We’re doing fine thank you and playing football the right way.
On a related note, it’s increasingly difficult to play the right way with the way games are refereed. Arsenal are not the only ones that don’t get calls, just to get that out of the way.
I just find the whole perspective which referees seem to use to make calls, just ludicrous. Various minor but admittedly irritating types of offences get carded. Time wasting, taking one’s shirt off, etc will more often than not, produce a card.
Launching a full shoulder charge into the back of a player, pushing them into the hoardings, full-on WWF grappling, full blooded challenges that are borderline assault that would get you arrested on the streets? Play on!!!
There seems to be this’ thing’ about allowing play to go on, that it’s ok to be physical because it’s the way the game is played in this country. And the inevitable comments in the aftermath that “x isn’t that type of player”. Which is a clever distraction from the real issue at hand.
Most of the time, the opposing team is not even making such a claim. They’re just calling it a bad tackle. The real reason why players continue to do it? Because they are allowed to get away with it!
